The Border Collies of Pawcific - North are raised, trained, shown and
loved by Kathy and Jenny Fish. We are located on a 14-acre farm in the
state of Washington,
USA where the
dogs have plenty of room to stretch their legs. Showing and raising
dogs is a family affair, with Kathy and her three daughters Emily, Jenny
and Brittany actively involved. Although Jenny was the one who
originally took claim to the Border Collies, both Kathy and Emily now
have Border Collies of their own. Emily has now developed her own
breeding program and her dogs can be seen at
Pawcific Border
Collies South.
Jenny's experience with dogs began when she turned nine and joined 4-H.
When she turned ten she also showed in A.K.C. Junior Handling and
Obedience. Jenny trained and showed her very special Shetland Sheepdog
named Nicky. Nicky taught Jenny a lot about training and showing dogs
and they became very successful. In 2003, Jenny decided that she would
like to do some therapy dog work with Nicky, as he is such a patient and
loving dog. Jenny certified Nicky as a DELTA Society Pet Partner and
they began visiting a local assisted living center.
In 1997 and 1998, the Fish family had the opportunity to live in
Australia. While living there Jenny
continued to show dogs. She was able to gain a lot of experience both in
the Junior Handling and breed ring. While living in Australia we
started to admire and appreciate the Border Collies. Jenny decided that
she wanted a bigger dog to show in juniors and we decided that a Border
Collie would be the perfect match. We were very fortunate to find Blaze,
bred by Wal & Margaret Morgan of Kellagem Border Collies. Our second
Border Collie, Morgan, came to us in 2001. Morgan is out of Blaze’s
first litter, bred by Bonnie Harris of Wildair Border Collies.
In May 2007 Jenny graduated from Pacific Lutheran University
with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and German. As well as training
and showing her own dogs, Jenny has professionally handled numerous
Border Collies. Jenny also enjoys training and competing in
herding, agility, obedience and rally.
Kathy has always enjoyed the Border Collies and in the summer of 2006
claimed one of our puppies as her own. Tracking is Kathy's favorite dog
sport and she enjoys tracking with her Border Collies. Kathy is also
the health and nutrition expert and enjoys raising our dogs
holistically.
Our goal is to raise and own Border Collies that have it all. We strive
to produce dogs with natural herding ability, correct conformation and
breed type, and sound, biddable temperaments. All of our dogs have
their eyes and hips tested as well as being DNA tested for CEA, CL and
TNS before breeding. We are extremely proud of our dog’s
accomplishments and look forward to what the future holds.
